Admission Regulations for Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree course

Admission regulations

Age limit for admission , the candidate should complete the age of 17 years above at the time of admission or should complete their said age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the I year of the course .

Candidates seeking admission in to B.Sc. (Nursing ) 4 years Degree course should have passed for 2 years Intermediate Examination (10+ 2 pattern)with physics , Chemistry , Botany and Zoology as optional which shall include a practical test in each subject.

Any other equivalent Examination (10+2 pattern ) recognized by university in AP or Board of Intermediate Education , Andhra Pradesh need to get with physics , Chemistry , Botany & zoology as optional which shall include practical test in each subject .

Should have passed Intermediate Vocational course in nursing (10 +2 pattern )/ Intermediate vocational course in Multipurpose Health worker (M.P.H.W) (10 +2 pattern )or Intermediate 10+2 with bridge course with physics ,chemistry ,Botany and Zoology .

As per admission regulations OC /BC categories less than 45 % in sciences are not eligible for admission into B.SC., (Nursing) 4 years Degree course . Further , 5 % relaxation is permitted to Sc /ST categories.

Eligibility certificate

Candidates who have passed any qualifying examination other than the intermediate examination conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, need to get an eligibility certificate from the Dr. N.T.R. University of health sciences before confirmation of admission Commencement & Duration of the Course

The basic B.Sc.(N) course commences on 2nd January. The duration of the study period is extended over a period of four academic years including internship

Attendance

The candidate shall put in 80% of attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence) in theory & practical in each subject to appear for examinations. Must have 100 % of attendance in each of the practical areas before award of degree.

Any shortage in practicals may be made up after final examinations but the degree will not be awarded till the candidate has 100 % attendance in practicals

Curriculum

The curriculum of syllabi for the programme shall be as prescribed by the university from time to time.

Vacation & Tours

Each student will be given 6 weeks vacation in an academic year. A picnic & tour are arranged for students apart from this educational trips to different places in 4th year programme

Internal Assessment

A minimum of 3 written examinations and practical assessment will be conducted in each subject and the average marks of them will be taken as final internal assessment marks. The final internal assessment marks will be forwarded to the Registrar, University examinations at least 2 weeks before commencement of theory examinations.

Scheme of Examination and results

Examination are conducted annually. Minimum pass marks are 50 % in each theory & practical paper separately

If a candidate fails either in theory or practical paper , he /she has to reappear for both papers .

Candidate has to pass internal & External exam separately in each of the paper & a candidate failing in more than two subjects will not be promoted to the next year & will not be admitted to the subsequent higher examination until the candidate has passed the previous exam.

The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed 8 years

Maximum no. of attempts permitted for each paper is 5 including the first attempt
