The Hospital Management programme was initially started as a one year PG Diploma course basically to meet the internal manpower requirement. Being inspired by the success of the programme in 1998, the course was upgraded as a two year programme comprising several new subjects to meet the need of the day and also added Internship as a compulsory component of the programme to make it more practical and application oriented to enhance it as a professional programme.

In the year 1999, the scope of the institute was widened by introducing Allied Science course like Diploma in Medical Record Technology, PG Diploma in Radiology and Radiotherapy Technology.

The year 2000 was a milestone in the history of the institute with the Hospital Administration course being enhanced as a Masters Degree following Affiliation with Charles Stuart University, Australia.

PG Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Cardiac Non-invasive Technology, OT Technician courses for technicians were added in the years 2001, 02. PG Diploma in Perfusion Technology was introduced in the year 2004.

The Institute entered into the collaboration with Alagappa University, Karaikuddi on 4th June, 2005 with an MOU being signed by Dr. P. Kanniappan, Vice- chancellor, Alagappa University and Dr. Prathap. C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group.
